Julien Mader

Julien Mader is a senior engineer in Marine Technologies (Institut des Sciences de l'Ingénieur de Toulon et du Var, France). His career at AZTI began in 2000 and he is currently Marine Technologies Director.

As coordinator for 15 years of the areas of Marine Dynamics and Operational Oceanography, and later Marine Technologies, he has led developments, innovations, and transfers towards marine and maritime sectors (operational oceanography, coastal and coastal zone management, fisheries, aquaculture, marine energies ). He has been involved in European, national and regional projects oriented to the transfer of services and products to marine and littoral stakeholders.

He has been developing international alliances in the field of operational oceanography and is currently AZTI's representative in EuroGOOS, chairing the EuroGOOS HF Radar Task Team, co-chairing the IBIROOS Atlantic regional system, and a member of the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) Operating Committee. He also co-chairs since 2021 the cross-border laboratory KOSTARISK focused on coastal risk management.
