Rajat Gupta

Rajat Gupta brings with him over three decades of experience in accounting, compliance,

corporate finance, project finance, M&A, and strategic investments, setting up and scaling green

filed projects, with a strong focus on infrastructure and renewable energy. He joined Azure Power

effective 1st September 2025. Prior to Azure, he had been the CFO at Essar Power where he

managed a 1,200 MW thermal project, set up the renewable energy vertical, and drove new

initiatives in biofuels space.

He had also served as CFO at Avaada Energy and held senior leadership roles at Sprng Energy,

Ostro Energy, Avantha Group, and Welspun Energy. At Sprng and Ostro, he played a pivotal role

in scaling renewable energy platforms for Actis and led their successful monetisation to Renew

and Shell Inc. at landmark valuations of USD 1.2 billion and USD 1.55 billion respectively.

At Azure, Rajat will lead the finance function and guide company’s strategic direction with a focus

on driving sustainable growth, profitability and long-term value creation for all stakeholders.

He is a Chartered Accountant and an alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of

Delhi.
