Joerg Schmidt

Joerg Schmidt has a diverse work experience that spans different industries and roles. Joerg is currently the Director of Business Development & Strategy at B2C2 Japan, a position they have held since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at So & Sato, where they served as an External Advisor and Foreign Associate. In their role at So & Sato, Joerg provided advice to digital assets companies regarding derivatives provision, reviewed swap agreements, and advised on liquidity provision in Japan. Before joining So & Sato, Joerg was a PhD student at the University of Cologne from October 2017 to September 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate at Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, where they advised clients on various legal matters, including acquisitions, e-money regulations, and in-vehicle communication systems. Joerg also gained experience as a Legal Trainee from June 2012 to August 2014.

Joerg Schmidt began their education at the University of Cologne in 2006 and completed their studies in 2012, obtaining a 1st State Examination degree in Law. In 2007, they also attended the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen for a year, focusing on Law.

In addition to their formal education, Joerg Schmidt has obtained several certifications. In 2008, they participated in the 6th Cologne Summer Academy on International Commercial Arbitration organized by the University of Cologne, Faculty of Law. In 2018, they completed the ILF Summer Academy on Banking and Capital Markets Law offered by the Institute for Law and Finance (Goethe University Frankfurt). Joerg also obtained the Oxford Fintech Programme certification from The University of Oxford Saïd Business School in the same year.

Most recently, in January 2021, they received an edX Verified Certificate for CS50 for Lawyers from edX, showcasing their knowledge in computer science relevant to the legal field.
