Zain Afzal has a strong background in the chemical industry with experience in production engineering roles. Zain started their career at Crystalline Chemical Industry (CCI) as a Production Engineer, where they monitored processes such as Vacuum Distillation, Fermentation, and Batches of Molasses. Zain was responsible for controlling parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and level to achieve high production.
After that, Zain worked at SAGE Chemical International as a Production and HSE Engineer. Here, they prepared production plans, collected samples for standard tests, managed and coordinated process activities, ensured plant safety, conducted risk assessments, and prepared HSE reports and statistics. Zain also ensured that employees and contractors received HSE inductions.
Currently, Zain is working at Baalbaki Chemical Industries (BCI) as a Senior Production Engineer. BCI is a leading polyurethane systems and raw material supplier in the Middle East. Zain's responsibilities include ensuring the operation of SCADA controlled and non-SCADA valves, providing guidelines to supervisors and assistants, and overseeing various production applications in insulation, footwear, automotive, seating, and adhesives.
Zain Afzal completed their NEBOSH-IGC certification in Occupational Safety and Health Technology/Technician from the Emirates Technical & Safety Development Centre in 2014-2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, specializing in rubbers and polymers, from the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology from 2007-2011. In addition, Zain also earned a certification in NEBOSH-IGC from the Emirates technical and safety institution in June 2014.
