Ben Kaplan

CEO at Backlight

Ben Kaplan is currently the CEO at Backlight. Prior to this, they were with National Today, PR Hacker, and Janrain, Inc. where they helped develop and maintain the Drupal module for the company's social authentication and sharing API. Ben has also been a consultant and advisory board member for OppenheimerFunds' "Keeping College Within Reach" web initiative, which supports and advises state 529 college savings plans in Illinois, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas.

Ben Kaplan's career in education began as a columnist for The Oregonian's "Scholars & Scholarships" column, which was later syndicated to other publications throughout the U.S. Ben has also served as a scholarship spokesperson and consultant for Sallie Mae and an education correspondent for KMOX-AM Radio in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ben Kaplan's educational career began at South Eugene High School. Ben then attended Harvard University, where they earned an A.B. Magna Cum Laude in Economics.
