Geospatial Solutions Director at Bad Elf

Nikolas Smilovsky, PhD, GISP has extensive experience in the geospatial field. Nikolas began their career in 2006 as a GIS Technician I and Archaeologist I at SouthArc Inc. Nikolas then moved to Logan Simpson Design in 2007 as a GIS Analyst II. In 2010, they became the Land Information Services Manager at The Artisan Group, LLC. From 2012 to 2015, they were the Mapping Division Supervisor at RDO Integrated Controls, where they promoted, educated people on, and sold Global Navigation Satellite System solutions. During this time, they were also an Associate Professor (Part time) at Mesa Community College. In 2015, they became the Director of Mapping at BPG Designs, where they ran a comprehensive mapping team dedicated to providing high-end geospatial services. In 2014, they were also an Adjunct Faculty (Part time) at the University of Arizona. From 2009 to 2022, they were an Instructor & Geospatial Researcher and Associated Faculty (Part time) at Arizona State University. In 2019, they became the Geospatial Solutions Director at Bad Elf, LLC, where they design, implements, and helps customers with innovative geospatial solutions. In 2022, they will become an Adjunct Professor at Austin Community College.

Nikolas Smilovsky, PhD, GISP has a comprehensive education history. Nikolas obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Behavioral Geography and Environmental Perception from Grand Canyon University from 2013 to 2019. Nikolas then obtained their Masters of Advanced Study in Geographic Information Systems from Arizona State University from 2008 to 2009. TheirBachelor of Arts in History and Minor in Secondary Education was obtained from the University of Florida from 2002 to 2006. Nikolas also obtained their High School diploma from The Bolles School from 1998 to 2002. In addition to their educational credentials, Nikolas has obtained several certifications, including ArcGIS Desktop Professional 19-001 from Esri in July 2021, FAA Certified SUAS Remote Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration in February 2019, Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture in July 2011, and GISP from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) in July 2011.
