Michael Planer is an accomplished Principal Scientist at BAE Systems, Inc., with a rich background in machine learning and physics. At BAE Systems since July 2018, Michael has led projects such as the Starling program, focused on developing ML pipelines for flight system simulations, and the MindfuL™ program, which aims to create machines with self-awareness of competencies. Prior experience includes roles at the University of Notre Dame, where Michael co-developed particle physics analysis software, presented internationally, and earned the CMS achievement award. Michael began a strong academic foundation at the University of Minnesota, obtaining a PhD in Physics and dual Bachelor's degrees in Physics and Astrophysics.
