Katherine Wirth

Katherine Wirth has a strong background in the fields of life science, biodefense, and homeland security. Their work experience includes serving as an Operations Director at BAI Inc., where they worked closely with the Vice President to manage contracts, develop business strategies, write proposals, and plan and recruit for the workforce. Katherine also played a key role in building and supporting high-performing teams to address complex challenges in areas such as biotechnology, public health, infectious disease, biodefense, and biological safety and security. Prior to this role, Katherine held various positions at BAI Inc., including Division Director, Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, Lead Analyst, and Senior Analyst.

Before joining BAI Inc., Katherine worked at Georgetown University as a PHD Candidate. During their time there, they gained extensive laboratory research experience in bacteriology, genetics, molecular and cellular biology, immunology, and disease pathogenesis. Katherine led complex projects focused on characterizing the human immune responses to bacteria.

Katherine Wirth completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Loyola University Maryland, between 1995 and 1999. After that, they pursued a higher level of education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Georgetown University, between 1999 and 2007.
