Somsubhra Metia is an experienced professional in the field of lighting and illumination with a strong background in research and advanced development. Currently serving as Joint General Manager & Vertical Head of Professional Lighting (R&D) at Havells India Ltd since January 2023, Somsubhra leads outdoor lighting product design and development, managing projects related to various lighting formats. Prior experience includes roles at Bajaj Electricals Ltd, where Somsubhra progressed from Assistant General Manager to Lead of Advanced Development, focusing on testing and validation of lighting products. Earlier positions include managerial roles at SURYA Roshni Ltd and a tenure as Illumination Engineer at Astra Lighting Ltd. Somsubhra began a career in engineering at Wipro Ge Medical Systems. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Illumination Engineering from Jadavpur University and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, coupled with further studies at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.
