Willy Loo

Willy Loo is a Senior Engineering Manager at Baker Hughes, where since June 2014, responsibilities include leading mechanical, electrical, and software engineers in the customization of downhole and surface equipment, while also championing sustaining and Design for Excellence (DFX) efforts. Previously, Willy served as a Senior Systems Leader managing Power-to-Lift (P2L) gas engine-generator systems. Prior experience at GE Power from July 1998 to June 2014 included roles such as Engineering Manager for Power Generation Electrical Systems, where management of over 20 engineers occurred, and Engineering Technical Leader, focusing on new product introductions and technical guidance for electrical equipment. Willy began a technical career as a Lead Electrical Engineer and has foundational experience as a Generator Protection Engineer and within a Technical Leadership Program. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Virginia.
