Camila Gazolla Volpiano is a Postdoctoral Microbial Bioinformatician at Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute since January 2023. Previously, Camila held the position of Research Fellow at Albert Einstein College of Medicine from April 2022 to January 2023 and co-founded Agrega Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento em Biotecnologia, where services were provided from 2019 to March 2022. Camila's academic background includes a Doutorado in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2018 - 2021), a Master's in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the same institution (2016 - 2017), a Bachelor's in Biotechnology from Universidade Federal do Paraná (2012 - 2015), and a short-term mobility program in Molecular Biology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2013).

The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute is Australia's first health and medical research institute tackling the deadly trio of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. Our work extends from the laboratory to wide-scale community studies. The integration of basic scientists with epidemiologists, clinicians and public health professionals is central to the Baker Institute's strategy to perform research that is directly informed by community needs and to translate discoveries into everyday clinical practice. Our main laboratory facilities located on the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct in Melbourne are complemented by a research facility in Alice Springs dedicated to Indigenous health.
