Lillian Tafoya is an accomplished education leader with extensive experience in various educational and organizational roles. Since January 2015, Lillian has served as a Trustee for the Bakersfield City School District and holds positions on the Board of Directors for both the California School Boards Association and the National School Boards Association, where Lillian is also President of the National Hispanic Council. Lillian's previous experience includes roles as a Regional Consultant for ASCD, Area Sales Manager for LeapFrog, and Principal for multiple elementary schools within the Bakersfield City School District, earning recognition as California Distinguished School and receiving accolades such as ACSA State Principal of the Year and National Principal of the Year. Lillian holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration from California Lutheran University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Highlands University. Additionally, Lillian was inducted into the Bakersfield City School District Hall of Fame in 2013.
