Durel Bernard has extensive work experience in various industries and roles. Durel started their career as a Development Manager at Goodwill Industries of Central Texas in 2008, where they managed fundraising efforts for the organization. Durel then worked as a Membership Account Executive at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce in 2011, focusing on membership sales and retention.
In 2012, Durel joined Microsoft Corporation as a Business Sales Specialist, providing business solutions and upgrades to small and medium-sized businesses and the public sector. Durel then joined the Alzheimer's Association, Capital of Texas Chapter in 2019 as the Development Director. In this role, they oversaw development operations and managed a budget of $1.7 million, a team of three full-time employees, and over 100 volunteers.
Durel's experience in the nonprofit sector continued with their role as a Senior Account Executive at ShipperHQ from 2020 to 2022. Durel then joined Balcones Resources as a Recycling Account Manager in 2023, focusing on B2B sales and contract renewals to set up recycling programs in Austin businesses, as well as working with municipalities and waste services brokerages to increase recycling production and reduce landfill waste.
Outside of their professional career, Durel also founded and led Durel's Pickels, a pickling operation, in 2016.
Durel Bernard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Media Studies from The Catholic University of America, which they attended from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they attended Louisiana State University from 1995 to 1996, although no specific degree or field of study was mentioned.
