Emily Wornell

Emily Wornell, PhD, serves as the Associate Director of Research at Ball State University's Center for Business and Economic Research since July 2016, focusing on immigration, poverty, community development, and sustainable rural initiatives. Additionally, since January 2020, Emily holds the position of Assistant Professor of Research and Director of the RUPRI Center for State and Local Policy, where the emphasis is on rural community policy and governance. Previous experience includes serving as Assistant Director at the Penn State University Center for Local and State Policy and positions in research and teaching at Oregon State University and various organizations. Emily Wornell earned a PhD in Rural Sociology and Demography from Penn State University, a Master's degree in Public Policy from Oregon State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Art from George Fox University.
