Ben Nicholson has a diverse work experience in engineering roles. Ben started their career as a Process Engineer at Process Combustion in 2011, where they worked on various projects including Thermal Oxidisers and Fire Fighter Training Units. In 2014, they joined Spooner Industries Ltd as an Applications Engineer, where they established a new system for prioritizing and creating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Then in 2017, they joined Ballard Motive Solutions as a Delivery Engineer, where they were responsible for designing and integrating subsystems for a hydrogen refueling station and a hydrogen bus.
Ben Nicholson completed their education at the University of Leeds from 2007 to 2011, where they pursued a MEng/BEng (Hons) degree in Chemical Engineering. Following that, from 2014 to 2016, they attended the National Centre for Circus Arts, earning a Foundation degree in Circus Arts. Prior to their university education, Ben attended Egglescliffe Comprehensive School and Sixth Form from 2000 to 2007, although their degree or field of study during this period is not specified.
In addition to their formal education, Ben has obtained several certifications. In January 2020, they received certification in "In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment" from PASS Ltd. In October 2021, they obtained the "Health, safety and environment test for managers and professionals" certification from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Lastly, in July 2012, they gained the "Safety Passport" certification from CCNSG.
