Darren Ferguson has over three decades of work experience in the field of quality engineering. Darren started their career in 1987 at Rolls-Royce, where they worked in various roles, including Quality Inspector and Quality Engineer. Darren handled customer complaints, reviewed operating procedures, and conducted training exercises. Darren also supported manufacturing engineers in process improvement and attended meetings as a Quality Engineer. In addition, they served as an Inspection Coach, ensuring compliance with the quality system and maintaining training records.
Darren then worked at Oil States Industries as a Quality Engineer before joining COMPONENT COATING AND REPAIR SERVICES LIMITED in a similar role. At Ballard Motive Solutions, Darren has served as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer and currently holds the position of Site Manager/Senior Quality Engineer. The company specializes in providing powertrain systems for fuel cell electric vehicles and collaborates with authorities, fleet operators, and OEMs to achieve zero-emission targets.
Throughout their career, Darren has demonstrated a strong commitment to quality assurance, compliance, and process improvement. Darren has extensive experience in managing audits, creating quality-based KPI targets, and making recommendations to ensure high-quality standards are met.
Darren Ferguson pursued their education in a chronological manner. Darren attended Glenwood Secondary School from 1982 to 1987, although they did not obtain a specific degree or field of study during this time. From 1987 to 1991, they enrolled in Stow College and completed a HNC degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering. Moving forward, from 2009 to 2011, Darren attended Reid Kerr College and obtained a HNC qualification in Quality. Finally, between 2011 and 2014, they studied at the University of the West of Scotland, earning a PgD Msc degree in Quality Management. Additionally, in the future, Darren acquired certifications in A3 Problem Solving for Continuous Improvement from LinkedIn in May 2023 and Systems Thinking for Product Designers from LinkedIn in October 2022.
