Managing Analyst, Consulting at Ballast Research

Zack Decker is currently the managing analyst, consulting at Ballast Research. Zack has previously worked as the government relations manager at American Bakers Association from October 2018 to April 2022. In this position, Zack advocated on behalf of wholesale bakery manufacturers to Congress and federal agencies through stakeholder research and targeted outreach. Zack also managed internal and external research projects to demonstrate preferred policies and industry impact. In addition, Zack mobilized grassroots support and incorporate industry feedback to effectively monitor and influence policy in the trade, agricultural, and food spaces. Zack was highly involved with the Food & Beverage Issue Alliance and ABA's economic impact study.

Prior to their work at American Bakers Association, Zack worked as the graduate assistant at Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership from August 2017 to June 2018. In this position, they performed research and analysis projects for the Executive Director and coordinated marketing and social media efforts promoting the Davenport Institute's goal: leadership through public engagement. Zack also conducted newsletter and promotional analytics and assisted in engagement facilitation and event coordination.

Before their work at Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership, Zack worked as the legislative affairs assistant at Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA) from May 2017 to June 2018.

Zack Decker has a Master of Public Policy from Pepperdine University School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts from Coe College. Zack is also certified by the Mentor Collective.
