Sonya Harbaugh

Director, Utility Of The Future Strategy at Baltimore Gas and Electric

Sonya Harbaugh, CEM has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Sonya is currently the Director of Utility of the Future Strategy at Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), where they lead the team responsible for shaping BGE's evolution into a clean energy utility. Sonya also serves as an Entrepreneur In Residence at BGE, focusing on innovation and new business strategies. Sonya is a member of the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Working Group for the Maryland Climate Commission. Sonya is also involved with the Digital Harbor Foundation, serving as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. In 2019, Sonya founded and served as the CEO of Steer, an on-demand electric car subscription service. Prior to that, they worked at Exelon Energy, where they led the Exelorate New Business Incubation Program focused on electrification of transportation and mobility. Sonya has also founded EZ-EV, a digital marketing and education platform for electric vehicles, and has held various roles at Constellation Energy, including Director of Strategic Alliances and Manager of Energy Technology Services. Sonya started their career at Casto as an analyst, responsible for office management and later transitioned into marketing and due diligence work.

Sonya Harbaugh, CEM obtained a BA degree from the University of Michigan in 2004, majoring in Economics & English. In 2010, they also obtained the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification from AEE.
