Shirley Sutton joined Baltimore Medical System as CEO in April 2015. She is a healthcare executive and former social worker with over 30 years of progressive leadership experience in for-profit and not-for-profit health care systems, as well as managed care organizations in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. She has held executive healthcare management roles at United Healthcare, The Preferred Health Plan, MidAtlantic Medical Services and Chesapeake Health Plan. She is a former Executive Director for the Baltimore Chamber of Commerce and most recently served as the Vice President of Managed Care and Government Relations for Saint Agnes Hospital. She has also completed studies in finance and business administration at the College of Notre Dame and Strayer University. She is a graduate of the Leadership Baltimore Training Program, and for the past four years, Ms. Sutton served on the Baltimore Medical System Board of Trustees, most recently as President.
