Alejandro Aguilar Vargas

Alejandro Aguilar Vargas has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Alejandro currently holds the position of Vicepresidente I Managing Director - Investments and Special Situations at Banca de Inversion Bancolombia, a role they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they served as Director of Infrastructure and Real Estate at the same company starting in September 2019. Before that, Alejandro worked as a Senior Associate of Investments and Distressed Assets and as Vicepresident | Gerente Senior at Banca de Inversion Bancolombia. Alejandro also held the position of Principal Associate of Investments at the same company from October 2009 to July 2016.

In addition to their work at Banca de Inversion Bancolombia, Alejandro worked as an Adjunct Professor at Universidad EAFIT starting in February 2020. Alejandro also served as a Member of the Board of Directors at Valores Simesa SA from March 2018.

Earlier in their career, Alejandro worked as a Mentor at Inpactamos in 2016. Alejandro also held the position of Analyst for Strategy Management Office at Bancolombia from May 2008 to September 2009 and as an Analyst for Project Management Office at Leasing Bancolombia from September 2006 to April 2008.

Prior to their roles in the banking sector, Alejandro gained experience working for Medellin City Hall as an Assistant Manager for Special Programs Office from January 2005 to August 2006.

Alejandro Aguilar Vargas has a diverse education history. In 2000, they started their academic journey at the Universidad de Antioquia, where they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree with a focus on Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law. Alejandro successfully completed their degree in 2004.

Later, in 2007 and 2008, Alejandro furthered their education at the Universidad de Medellín, specializing in Finance and Capital Markets.

In 2009, they attended the University of California, Berkeley, to participate in an Advanced Strategic Planning Program.

In 2014, Alejandro enrolled at the University of Leicester, where they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General. Alejandro completed their studies in 2015.

In the same year, Alejandro attended two short-term programs related to Private Equity. The first was the Alternative Investment Conference Annual Conference: Private Equity and Venture Capital, organized by The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The second program, the Private Equity Programme, was held at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Lastly, in an unspecified year, Alejandro also attended the Private Equity Forum 2015 at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
