Banco de Occidente S.A. nació en 1951 en la ciudad de Santa Rosa de Copán, gracias a un grupo de ciudadanos futuristas, que visualizaron la necesidad de contar en la zona occidental de Honduras con una institución bancaria, que con su respaldo económico y financiero se convirtiera en un ente promotor del desarrollo económico y social de aquella rica y productora región del país y de Honduras en general.
