Curtis Chen joined Aegon in March of 2017 as the Head of Business Development and Strategy. This was a newly created role created in order to accelerate the development of new innovative business models and formation of ecosystem partnerships in the region. Curtis is a member of the Executive Team reporting to the CEO of Aegon International. He has been working in Asia for 24 years across a variety of senior executive roles in financial services. Prior to joining Aegon, Curtis served as Managing Director and Head of Strategy for ANZ Bank’s International and Institutional Division, a $7.5 billion business spanning 23 markets in Asia Pacific. There he undertook a major digital disruption initiative for the retail bank starting in India with an ecosystem partnership and a branchless banking model. He also led ANZ entry into Thailand and Myanmar and guided a 300 MM/Year divisional capital allocation process. Curtis has also worked at ABN AMRO Bank both as Head of FIG Coverage and as MD of Strategy and Corporate Development, where he led 2 control acquisitions and formed 3 equity JVs. He started working in Asia in 1996 for Aetna International, Inc as they expanded into ASEAN markets. Prior to that Curtis worked for 7 years in New York for Booz, Allen and Hamilton. Curtis holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
