Jan Thiry is the EVP, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer at Bank 34. Jan has over 25 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, investor relations, consolidations, XBRL compliance, M&A, valuations, joint ventures and external audit coordination. Jan has also been an adjunct professor at the Keller Graduate School of Management, teaching graduate auditing and accounting courses.
From 2006 to 2010, Jan was the SVP & Chief Accounting Officer at Midwest Banc Holdings, Inc. During their time there, they managed the finance function through both high-growth and subsequent reorganization and wind-down periods as capital strength was eroded by GSE losses, costs related to diminished credit quality and the inability to access capital markets. Some notable accomplishments during their time at Midwest Banc Holdings include being appointed by the Audit Committee of the Board to take direct responsibility for the computational methodology, adequacy and reporting related to the allowance for loan and lease losses (ALLL), overseeing SEC and regulatory reporting, and coordinating efforts with nationally recognized independent valuation specialists to complete quarterly goodwill impairment (fair value) studies.
