Mr Roy England serves as an independent non-executive director, a role he holds with another City based financial institution which he has fulfilled since 1 January 2002. Prior to that, Mr England served as Advisor to the General Manager of the institution, which like Bank of Ceylon (UK) Ltd existed as a London Branch before the subsidiarisation. He is an associate of The Institute of Bankers.

The saga of Bank of Ceylon (BOC) began on 1st of August 1939 under Bank of Ceylon Ordinance No. 53 of 1938, the Governor of Ceylon, Sir Andrew Caldecott, declared open the maiden office of Sri Lanka’s first state-owned commercial bank in Fort, Colombo. The registered office is situated at No. 01, BOC Square, Bank of Ceylon Mawatha, Colombo 01, Sri Lanka. Since 1939, for more than 76 years “Bankers to the Nation”, BOC has been a trusted partner for all Sri Lankans.
