Harry Guo

Harry Guo, Ph.D, CFA has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Harry has held various high-level roles throughout their career, starting with their current position as Senior Vice President in the Treasury Department at Bank of China since 2019.

Prior to joining Bank of China, Guo had a long tenure at HSBC, where they held multiple leadership positions. From 2016 to 2019, they served as the Managing Director and Global Head of Markets Independent Model Review, responsible for overseeing model review teams worldwide and establishing global standards and procedures for model reviews. Harry also represented the Independent Model Review department on various global committees.

Before their role in model review, Guo was the Americas Head of Markets Independent Model Review from 2014 to 2016 and the Americas Head of Quantitative Risk and Valuation Group (QRVG) within Finance/Product Control from 2009 to 2014. In these positions, they led teams focused on model review, model risk monitoring, and fair-value adjustment.

From 2002 to 2009, Guo was the Managing Director and Head of Quantitative Risk Assessment in Market Risk Management at HSBC. Harry created and managed the Quantitative Risk Assessment team, which consisted of three teams addressing derivative model reviews, market risk model development, and risk infrastructure development.

Guo started their career at Republic National Bank, where they held various risk management and programming analyst roles from 1995 to 2002.
