Jelle Barkema

Jelle Barkema is a seasoned data scientist specializing in economic analysis and research, currently serving as a Senior Data Scientist and Lead Analyst at the Bank of England since January 2021. Previous experience includes a role as a Research Analyst at the International Monetary Fund from November 2016 to January 2021 and an internship with the American Enterprise Institute's Trade and Finance Team in early 2016. Jelle also held significant internships at the Embassy of the Netherlands in the United States and THIRD BRIDGE, focusing on economic missions and data analysis. In addition to practical experience, Jelle Barkema holds a Master’s Degree in International Economics from The George Washington University, a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of Oregon, and a Graduate Certificate in Statistics from Birkbeck, University of London.
