Shih-Po Chang

Shih-Po Chang has over 25 years of work experience in the financial industry. Shih-Po currently serves as Senior Vice President at Bank of Hope, where they collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer to establish and manage the Model Risk Management (MRM) infrastructure. Prior to this, Shih-Po worked at City National Bank as Vice President, CCAR, where they established processes to test risk mitigating controls and managed testing of controls under Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs). Shih-Po also planned model ongoing monitoring activities and provided reports to the MRM team. In their previous role as First Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management at East West Bank, Shih-Po led the MRM team in performing model validation for various financial models and designed a model risk rating system. Shih-Po also chaired the Model Risk Committee to oversee the bank's model risk management process. Before that, Shih-Po was Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management at City National Bank, where they assisted in establishing the bank's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and conducted risk assessment interviews with executives. Shih-Po also analyzed risk in peer banks and built a core peer group model for benchmarking. Shih-Po started their career as a Quantitative Analyst at IndyMac Bank, where they formulated risk grades for metropolitan statistical areas and optimized profitable portfolios using data mining techniques. Shih-Po also monitored delinquency trends and advised on risk-based pricing decisions. Shih-Po holds an MBA from UCLA - Anderson School and has a research background as a Research Assistant at UC-Berkeley.

Shih-Po Chang earned an MBA in Finance and Financial Management Services from UCLA Anderson School of Management, from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they obtained a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, from 1995 to 2000. Shih-Po Chang also holds a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification from the GARP FRM Program, obtained in 2005.
