Lester Machado

Dr. Lester Machado, M.D., D.D.S., FRCS (Ed), practices oral and maxillofacial surgery in San Diego. He has served as the Director of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Services at the Craniofacial Center of Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, Treasurer of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and President of both the San Diego County Dental Society and the San Diego County Dental Foundation. He also maintains a private practice in San Diego and is a Senior Surgeon on the staff of Scripps Mercy Hospital and Rady Children’s Hospital. He served the Executive Committees of both hospitals as the Chair of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Active in the community, Dr. Machado serves as a Trustee for the San Diego Museum of Art. He has served as the Treasurer for his church. He helped form Climate Action Campaign which leads grass-root efforts to stop climate change through local actions. He served on the Board of the Climate Action Campaign for six years including five years as Treasurer. He serves as the Chair of the Climate Defenders Action Fund, a public benefit corporation devoted to public education on local climate issues. He has also supported several community service organizations, including periods of service on the Boards of Directors of the following groups: Responsibility supporting education programs for children in Tijuana, The Coming Together Foundation supporting teen mentoring programs, the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club, and Mercy Outreach Surgical Team, providing surgical services to children internationally.
