Alexander Gagnon is a distinguished professional in the field of chemistry and carbon removal technology. As Co-Founder and CEO of Banyu Carbon since March 2022, Gagnon focuses on developing an innovative and affordable process for carbon removal from seawater, contributing to climate change mitigation. In June 2023, Gagnon became an Activate Fellow, working to transform scientists into entrepreneurs addressing global challenges, particularly climate change. Gagnon's academic career includes roles as an Associate Professor and previously as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, along with a postdoctoral fellowship at Berkeley Lab from 2010 to 2013. Gagnon holds a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech and dual degrees in Chemistry (BS) and Molecular and Cellular Biology (BA) from the University of California, Berkeley.
