Neil Smart is an experienced policy professional with a strong background in consumer policy. Currently serving as a Senior Policy Officer at The Bar Standards Board since April 2023, Neil previously held roles at the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, where positions included Validation Officer and Senior Policy Advisor from July 2019 to April 2023. Neil's earlier experience includes being a Senior Policy Advisor at the Competition and Markets Authority and the Office of Fair Trading, specializing in consumer policy issues. Earlier work involved policy advisory roles at the Department of Trade and Industry, contributing to the development of consumer protection law. Neil holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Sunderland.
