Antoni Plasència

Antoni Plasència Taradach is the Director General of the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal) since October 2014. He is also Medical Consultant at the Department of International Health of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and Associated Professor at the University of Barcelona. As ISGlobal director, he leads a team of more than 500 people committed to improving global health and promoting health equity through excellence in research and the translation and application of knowledge.

Dr Plasencia graduated in Medicine (MD) from the University of Barcelona in 1981, and holds a Ph.D. from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1996). He is a specialist in public health and preventive medicine and obtained a Master in Public Health from Yale University, USA (1986), as a Fullbright-”la Caixa” Scholar.
