Gretchen Thomas

Chief Creative Officer (cco) at Barcelona Wine Bar

Gretchen Thomas has extensive work experience in the food and beverage industry. Gretchen started their career in 2006 at Barteca Restaurant Group, where they worked as the Wine and Spirits Director, responsible for selecting and sourcing products from Spain and South America. Gretchen also oversaw beverage training for the entire company. In 2018, they joined Del Frisco's Restaurant Group as the VP of Beverage. At Barcelona Wine Bar, they held multiple roles, starting as the VP of Food and Beverage Innovations in 2019, then becoming the VP of Creative. Currently, they are the Chief Creative Officer at Barcelona Wine Bar. In 2020, they co-created a project called Conserva.

Gretchen Thomas received their Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) in Culinary Arts degree from The Culinary Institute of America in 2005. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained their WSET Level 3 certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in 2008. Gretchen also became a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) in 2018 and obtained the Certified Sherry Wine Specialist certification from the Regulatory Council of Sherry Wines in the same year. In 2020, they became a Spanish Wine Scholar through the Wine Scholar Guild and later acquired the Spanish Wine Specialist certification from ICEX in 2021. Their most recent certification is as a Spanish Wine Educator from ICEX-CECO in 2023.
