Gokul Balakumar

Gokul Balakumar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the fields of technology management, risk governance, and compliance. Currently serving as the Head of Tech Consumption and Optimization at Barclays, Gokul drives the Technology Cost of Ownership optimization agenda for the Corporate and Investment Bank while leading a team of product managers and developers in delivering Management Data applications. Previous roles include Head of Markets, Investment Banking, and IHC Tech Controls, Technology Risk Manager for Equity and IB Finance, and IT and Infrastructure Audit Manager. Gokul's career began with a strong foundation as a Management Trainee at Tata Power Company, followed by positions at Deloitte, IBM, and CBS, showcasing a consistent trajectory of leadership and expertise in risk services. Gokul holds a Master’s Degree in Enterprise Risk Management from New York University and a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering from MCT's Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology.
