Michael Matthews

Michael Matthews, CPA, CA has a diverse work experience spanning across multiple companies.

Michael began their career in 2011 as the owner of MJM Landscaping. After a successful stint as a business owner, they transitioned to EY in 2013, where they worked as a Staff Accountant and then as a Senior Staff Accountant. During their time at EY, they demonstrated a strong ability to recognize potential audit issues, document audit procedures accurately, and enhance audit techniques.

In 2018, Michael joined Waste Connections of Canada as a District Controller, managing financial operations for various hauling and landfill divisions. Michael held this role until 2021 when they joined Barco Materials Handling as the VP of Finance, responsible for overseeing finance and operational activities. Later in 2023, they were promoted to the role of VP of Finance & Operations, further showcasing their strategic and leadership abilities.

Michael Matthews, CPA, CA has a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, which was obtained in 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Honours Business Administration and Management, Accounting with Distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University from 2011 to 2015. In 2018, they obtained the Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant certification from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).
