Bard College
John Burns is an accomplished academic with extensive experience in Spanish language and literature education. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Spanish at Bard College since January 2019, John teaches various courses including Latin American Literature and Spanish for Heritage Speakers. Previously, John has held positions such as Visiting Associate Professor at Bard College and Visiting Faculty at Bard High School Early College Queens, and has served as an Associate Professor and Department Chair at Rockford University from 2009 to 2018. John's educational background includes a PhD and MA in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with a BA in English/Spanish from the University of Maine. Additionally, John has engaged in creative writing and research at Kobe College and has experience teaching at multiple institutions, including Beloit College and Madison Area Technical College.
