Karl Frederick Mattson

Karl Frederick Mattson is an experienced Analog Facilities Manager in the Photography Program at Bard College since August 2021, overseeing the program's analog facilities and equipment, while providing technical guidance to students and faculty. Mattson has worked as a freelance Art Handler, collaborating with artists and galleries to ensure professional handling of artworks and implementing archival solutions. Additionally, Mattson owns 542films, a video production company focused on storytelling and videotape digitization. Previous roles include Art Preparator and Lighting Technician at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, where significant contributions were made to lighting over 430 works of art for the museum's reopening. Mattson's extensive background also includes experience with various art institutions and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Hartford.
