Matt Wentzel

Matt Wentzel, CFA, currently serves as Senior Director and Head of Counterparty Risk Management at Barings, a position held since May 2021, where responsibilities include building the global counterparty risk management function in alignment with industry best practices. Prior to Barings, Matt worked at EY from March 2016 to April 2021 in FSO Advisory, leading teams in engagements focused on credit risk, process improvement, and regulatory analyses, while also mentoring junior consultants. Additional experience includes managing counterparty risk for U.S. hedge funds at Credit Suisse and serving as a Senior Commercial Credit Analyst at First Citizens Bank. Matt is pursuing an MBA with a double concentration in Finance and Organizational Leadership at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, following a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual majors in Finance and Economics from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee.
