Andy Garbutt

Andy Garbutt was appointed Barnes & Noble’s Executive Vice President, Real Estate and Group Development in November 2019. In addition to this, Mr. Garbutt holds the same role at Waterstones, the largest retail bookseller in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Garbutt currently oversees 627 Barnes & Noble stores in the United States, and 293 Waterstones locations across the U.K., Ireland, The Netherlands and Belgium. As leader of the real estate teams, he is responsible for new stores, relocations, expirations, facilities and business improvement.

For the previous 10 years, Mr. Garbutt has held board-level positions at two FTSE-250 listed retailers, Card Factory and Poundland, with responsibility for up to 1,000 stores. During his time at these retailers, he opened and relocated over 700 new stores. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at PwC, leading due diligence and business improvement projects, exclusively in the multi-site retail and leisure sector.
