Martin Thornton started their work experience in 2000 at Redcats UK as a Contact Centre Team Leader, where they worked until 2006. Martin then went on to work at various companies, including Opus Music as a Guitar/Keyboard Teacher, Mynas as Keys/Tech, Little Warrior Productions as a Creative/Technical, and University of Huddersfield as an IT Support Assistant and Library Assistant. In 2013, they joined Barnsley College as an IT Support Specialist, and in 2015, they became the Creative Director at Woodstock Studios - Video Production.

Martin Thornton completed their education at two different institutions. From 2006 to 2009, they attended The University of Huddersfield, where they pursued a degree in Creative Music Technology & Sound Recording. During their time there, their field of study included music production, composition for film and media, multimedia (web design, Flash, 3DS Max), and live music. Prior to this, Martin attended Priory Comprehensive from 1985 to 1990, although no specific degree or field of study information is provided for this period. In addition to their academic education, Martin has obtained multiple certifications from Microsoft. In 2017, they became certified in MTA: Networking Fundamentals, and in 2020, they obtained certifications in MTA: Windows Operating System Fundamentals, MTA: Mobility and Device Fundamentals, MTA: Security Fundamentals, and MTA: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals.
