Wayne Atkins

Wayne Atkins has extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly in highways and drainage management, spanning over three decades. Currently serving as the Principal Engineer for Highways Asset Management at Barnsley Council since February 1991, Wayne oversees various responsibilities including Highways Asset Management, policy development, safety inspections, and flood risk management. Previous positions at Barnsley Council include roles as Principal Engineer in Drainage and Highway Management, and Senior Land Drainage Engineer, among others, showcasing a comprehensive background in asset management and drainage control. Prior experience includes working as a Trainee Site Engineer at John Laing Construction Limited. Wayne holds an HNC in Civil Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University, completed between 1992 and 1994.
