Sylvie Laplante

Sylvie Laplante, LLB, BAA, is a qualified family and commercial mediator with extensive experience in the legal and financial sectors. Since 2001, Sylvie has served as a mediator at Barreau du Québec. From January 2010 to December 2022, Sylvie held the positions of President, Chief Compliance Officer, and Owner at Girard Investor Services Inc., a regulated mutual fund dealer specializing in tax-efficient income funds. Prior legal experience includes roles as a Lawyer and Executive Assistant to the President at Québecor Média from 1990 to 1996, and as a Legal Secretary at Stikeman Elliott LLP from 1980 to 1983. Sylvie's educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws from UQAM, a Bachelor of Business Administration from UQAM, and a DEC in Legal and Medical Secretarial studies from the Mother House, complemented by Health Sciences studies at Cegep Marie Victorin.
