Zao Liu

Zao Liu is a highly experienced mining professional with a diverse background spanning multiple roles within the industry. Currently serving as the Manager of Mine Technical Services at Barrick since 2025, Zao leads a team of over 100 engineers focused on both underground and open pit mining. Zao also operates a successful crypto mining venture at Bit Ground, achieving top rankings in Kaspa mining. Previous roles include Mining Manager at GRIFFIN MINING LIMITED, Mine Superintendent at Metals Acquisition Corp, and various leadership positions at MMG Limited, Barminco, and Perilya. Zao's educational background includes a Master’s in Mining Engineering from UNSW and multiple master's degrees in Commerce and Professional Accounting from Deakin University, as well as a Bachelor’s in Geophysics from China University of Geosciences.
