Lauren Gittings

Research Assistant Professor at Barrow Neurological Institute

Lauren Gittings is a Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barrow Neurological Institute since July 2019, focusing on the molecular biology behind amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) using single-cell biology and iPSC-neuronal modeling to identify key signatures influencing cognitive impairment related to C9orf72. Prior to this, Gittings completed a PhD at UCL Institute of Neurology from September 2014 to April 2019, investigating dipeptide repeat proteins in C9orf72-linked ALS/FTD. Gittings has also undertaken research projects at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Molecular Devices, with early training including a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Bath and a Doctor of Philosophy in Neurodegenerative Diseases from UCL.
