Jeff Lau

Jeff Lau, CSP, has over two decades of experience in safety and operations within the transportation sector. Currently serving as Chief Safety Officer at BART since February 2006, Jeff has also held roles as Manager of Operations Safety and Senior Operations Safety Specialist. In addition, Jeff is an active member of the Rail Safety Committee for the American Public Transportation Association and previously chaired the Rail Operations and Regulatory Committee at the California Transit Association from 2017 to 2021. Jeff contributed to the Federal Transit Administration's Transit Advisory Committee for Safety from 2016 to 2020. Prior to BART, Jeff worked as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and as a Transportation/Utilities Engineer at the California Public Utilities Commission. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA in Operations Management from Golden Gate University.
