Yuliya Shmidt currently serves as the Head of the Energy Division at BART, overseeing operations, managing a $60 million energy budget, and ensuring compliance with energy regulations. Prior experience includes roles at the California Public Utilities Commission, where Yuliya served as an Interim Advisor and Advisor to Commissioners on regulatory energy issues, focusing on electric vehicles and renewable energy. Yuliya also held positions such as Supervisor of Electric Procurement and Senior Policy Analyst, advocating for electricity consumers in long-term planning and renewable energy matters. As a Fulbright Public Policy Clinton Fellow in Guatemala, Yuliya supported the Renewable Energy Department. Yuliya holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Environmental Policy from Yale University and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
