Philip Scalo is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bartley Healthcare and is one of the founders and owners of the company. A graduate of Rutgers College and Rutgers Law School, Scalo spent 20 years as an attorney representing many growing businesses and entrepreneurs in diverse areas, including healthcare. He also served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of an international trade show company. Scalo was the Managing Partner of Bartley Healthcare, which initially consisted of a 120-bed nursing home. As the need for Bartley services grew, he dedicated more of his time to Bartley, becoming its full-time CEO in 1996. He later managed Bartley’s growth into a 230-bed health care facility, including subacute and rehabilitation services and the planning, development and opening of The Orchards at Bartley Assisted Living and Bartley at Home. Scalo serves as the Independent Owners Representative on the American Health Care Association Board of Governors. He also serves as a Board Member of the Health Care Association of New Jersey and Chairs the Legal Committee and the Political Action Committee. His civic and charitable activities include serving as a Trustee of the Board of Overseers of Rutgers University and as Chair of the Development Committee. He is also on the Business School, Nursing School and Institute for Gerontology Advisory Boards for Felician College. Scalo has been a speaker on various post-acute healthcare topics at national conventions and conferences. Phil Scalo has used his background to help lead the Bartley Healthcare team toward understanding and meeting the needs of Bartley’s patients and residents to enhance their quality of their lives.
