Glen Gowers

Co-Founder at Basecamp Research

Glen Gowers has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Glen co-founded Basecamp Research in 2019, where they currently hold the position of Co-Founder. Prior to that, they pursued a PhD in Synthetic Biology at Imperial College London from October 2016 to August 2020. In 2018, Glen served as the Scientific Lead for the Return To Vatnajökull Expedition, where they were responsible for www.sledgereport.com. Glen also gained experience as a Corporate Strategy Intern at Silence Therapeutics plc in 2015. In 2014, Glen co-founded and worked as a Research Scientist for the Oxford University iGEM. Lastly, they served as the Welfare Officer at University College, Oxford from September 2013 to June 2014.

Glen Gowers started their education at Caterham School, where they studied from 1997 to 2012. After completing their schooling, they attended the University of Oxford from 2012 to 2016, where they earned a Master's Degree in Biochemistry, specializing in Molecular and Cellular studies. Following this, they pursued further academic studies at Princeton University in 2015 and 2016, where they engaged in a Master's project in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Later, Glen went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Synthetic Biology at Imperial College London from 2016 to 2020.
