Philipp Lorenz (He/Him), PhD

Philipp Lorenz (He/Him), PhD has a diverse work experience in various positions. Philipp is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Basecamp Research since May 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Data Science at the same company from October 2020 to May 2022. Philipp worked as a Tutor in Advanced Genetics at Jesus College Oxford from January 2020 to August 2020. Philipp also held multiple roles at the University of Oxford, including Tutor and Demonstrator for undergraduate and graduate students in the Life Sciences from September 2017 to April 2020, and Interviewer for Oxford Admissions for three years starting from December 2017. Philipp worked as a Data Scientist & Bioinformatician at C4X Discovery Ltd from July 2019 to November 2019. Additionally, Philipp served as a Scholarship Holder at Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes from January 2013 to October 2017. Philipp gained experience as a Business Development Intern at Absolute Antibody in 2015, where they focused on growing the company's recombinant antibody business. Philipp's early experience includes being the Co-founder of the Oxford iGEM team, the first team from the University of Oxford to participate in the international Biotechnology competition for students. Philipp also worked as a Research Intern at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund from July 2011 to August 2011.

Philipp Lorenz (He/Him), PhD has a strong educational background in the field of genetics, bioinformatics, and molecular and cellular biochemistry. Philipp completed their DPhil degree in Genetics and Bioinformatics at the University of Oxford from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained their MBiochem (Master of Biochemistry) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from the same institution, spanning from 2012 to 2016.

In addition to their academic degrees, Philipp Lorenz has also obtained several certifications to enhance their skills in the field. In November 2020, they completed a certification in Neural Networks and Deep Learning from deeplearning.ai. In June 2020, they completed a certification in Machine Learning from Stanford University, taught by Andrew Ng. Furthermore, they hold certifications in Python for Data Science and AI, Data Science Methodology, Open Source Tools for Data Science, and Data Science, all provided by IBM, acquired between January and March 2020.
