Basin Recreation
Dana Jones has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Dana started their career in 1988 with California State Parks, where they held various roles, including District Superintendent for the North Coast Redwoods District and District Superintendent for the Capital District. In these positions, they were responsible for managing multiple parks, overseeing visitor services, resource management, and law enforcement.
In 2016, Dana started working as a consultant and eventually transitioned to a retired state parks role, where they became a travel blogger and full-time nomad, exploring the country by RV and sharing their experiences through blogging. Dana continued this role until December 2020.
Starting in December 2020, Dana joined Basin Recreation as the District Director, where they currently work.
Dana Jones received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Recreation Administration from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, attending from 1982 to 1986.

Basin Recreation
Established in 1986, Basin Recreation owns and manages nearly 2,300 acres of open space, has built and/or maintains 170 miles of trails and works with Summit County and state and local organizations on planning and conservation issues. We also operate an 87,000-square foot indoor fieldhouse facility that serves over 265,000 visitors a year. Additionally, Basin Recreation owns and operates several outdoor park facilities, which include bike parks, a skate park, groomed cross-country trails, sports facilities, ponds, community areas, and dog parks. Finally, the District manages popular recreation programs, fitness classes, camps, and community events that have grown without pause over the last decade to serve the residents in the area.
