Taryn-Lee Bowden currently serves as Chair of Humanities for Grades 1-3 at BASIS International School Shenzhen since May 2024 and has been a Grade 2 Humanities teacher and ELL Support at BASIS International Schools since June 2017. Taryn-Lee has experience teaching in various roles, including English Second Language Teacher for Grades 2 and 3, PreK2 teacher during a staffing crisis, and as a Learning Expert Teacher, marking the transition to an international teaching career in China. Prior to this, Taryn-Lee worked as a Grade 2 Home Teacher at Nizamiya Al-Azhar Institute from January 2016 to June 2017 and owned Rocking Horse Equestrian Centre from 2007 to 2010. Taryn-Lee holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education focused on Early Childhood Education and Teaching, as well as a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and Psychology from the University of South Africa.

BASIS International Schools is a part of the BASIS Curriculum network of schools in the United States and worldwide. The first BASIS International School opened in Shenzhen, China in 2015 as the largest opening of an international school in south China history. Our network of schools continues to expand with BASIS International School Guangzhou opening in 2017, BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour and Hangzhou in 2018, BASIS International School Nanjing and BASIS International School Bangkok in 2019. The first bilingual school in our network opened in September 2020: BASIS Bilingual School Shenzhen. Our network is rapidly growing and future schools will be opening in coming years.
